Saturday, May 10, 2025 marked one of the largest one-day food drives - Stamp Out Hunger.
Letter Carriers walk through the community every day, often coming face to face with a sad reality for too many, hunger. So, each year on the Second Saturday in May, letter carriers across the community collect non-perishable food items from residents.
The food drive's timing is crucial. Food banks and pantries often receive a majority of their donations during the holiday season. By spring time, many pantries are depleted, entering the summer low on supplies at a time when many school breakfast and lunch programs are not available to children in need.
This year, we collected just over 46,000 pounds of food locally here in Southwest New Mexico.
Participating in the food drive is simple! Just leave a non-perishable food donation in a bag by your mailbox on the Second Saturday in May and your letter carrier will take care of the rest! These donations go to local food pantries to provide food to people in Dona Ana County who need assistance.
Please help our organization in our fight to end hunger.
