United Way Appoints New CEO

The Board of Directors are excited to announce that Amanda Morales has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of United Way of Southwest New Mexico.  Amanda has served United Way for over seven years, most recently as the Community Impact Director. Connie Campos, Chair of the Board of Directors, said, “She has built strong relationships, both internally and externally, that will move United Way forward in the future, and we are thrilled that she agreed to accept this new challenge. We look forward to much success under her leadership.”

The Board of Directors recommended Amanda because of her extensive United Way leadership experience, her commitment to the vision of United Way of SWNM, and her deep relationship with businesses, individuals, and nonprofits in this region. “We are excited by Ms. Morales’ dedication to furthering United Way of Southwest New Mexico’s mission to mobilize the community to advance the common good.” Campos said.

Morales holds a Bachelor of Social Work with a minor in Counseling from New Mexico State University. She has served in a variety of volunteer leadership capacities. She currently serves as Chair for Los Amigos of the Las Cruces Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Program Chair for Money Smart Week- Dona Ana County and is also a graduate of Leadership Las Cruces and Leadership New Mexico-Connect Program.

“I am blessed to have this opportunity to serve my community with a staff and board of directors that are second to none,” said Morales. “I have chosen to invest my career with United Way of Southwest New Mexico because I am passionate about its mission, the work being accomplished, and the chance to improve local quality of life. This is an exciting time for our community, and I look forward to serving as President and CEO of an organization that will greatly impact our community’s future.”

As President and CEO, Amanda’s priority will be to be to ensure United Way remains focused on its initiatives that serve vulnerable kids and families in our community. In her new role, she will work with to deepen cross-sector relationships with community partners and donors, set strategic direction by developing a community impact strategy, as well as begin to diversify the way UWSWNM looks at fundraising and other sources of revenue.
