The 2018 Kick-Off event will be held Saturday, April 21st,
in front of the historic Rio Grande Theater, in conjunction with the Las Cruces Farmer’s Market.
We have a total of 67 sessions scheduled for this year’s campaign. 49 of those are student sessions from Chaparral HS, Onate, Mayfield, and Las Cruces High. The student sessions will focus on the topic of ‘Paying for College’.
For the Story/Video contest, we had a total of 441 entries of stories and 18 videos.
The top 15 story finalist went on to create an art project with shredded money that was provided by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas-El Paso branch. The art projects will remain displayed at the Dona Ana County Government Center until April 18th.
The top 3 videos will win a prize, as well at the top 9 story/art projects.
Money Smart Week is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. This is achieved through the collaboration and coordination of organizations across the country including businesses, financial institutions, schools, libraries, not-for-profits, government agencies and the media. These groups come together once a year to stress the importance of financial literacy, inform consumers about where they can get help and provide free educational seminars and activities throughout the week.
